Privacy Policy
In short: CleanONE scans and cleans your phone on your device. We store the account details you give us (name and email address) and details of the device you log in from (such as model, Android version, Android ID, advertising ID and IP address). Linking your advertising ID to your account is required to use the App. We do not upload your files, we do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Summary
This Privacy Policy explains what information CleanONE ("the App", "we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information we collect
Account information (stored in the cloud)
When you sign up or log in, we use Google Firebase Authentication and Firebase Realtime Database to manage your account. We store:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Name | To personalise the App (for example, "Hello, Alex"). |
| Email address | Your login ID. We send you an email to verify that the address is yours, and we use it for account messages such as password resets. It is not used for marketing. |
| Google account (if you choose "Continue with Google") | Google shares your name, email address and Google account ID with us so you can log in without a password. We never see your Google password. |
| Password (email login only) | Secures your account. It is handled by Firebase Authentication and stored only in hashed form; we can never see it. |
| Device details: manufacturer, brand, model, device name, Android version, security patch level, app version, language, time zone and screen size | Account management, support and troubleshooting. |
| Android ID (a device identifier set by Android for this app) | To recognise which of your devices signed in and to protect your account. |
| Public IP address at login | Account security and detecting suspicious sign-ins. We look it up through the ipify service (api.ipify.org). |
| Login history: date and time of each sign-up and login, with the device details above | So you and we can review account activity and detect abuse. |
| Advertising ID (required to use the App) | Linked to your account for account management. The login screen tells you this, and you give your consent by tapping "Agree & continue". If you do not agree, do not create an account. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads; the new value is saved at your next login. |
To create your account, verify your email address and send password-reset emails, your email address is processed by Google (Firebase Authentication). Google may also process technical data such as your IP address and device identifiers to provide its authentication service. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
Information that stays on your device
The following is processed only on your phone and is never sent to us:
- The list of installed apps and their cache sizes.
- File names, sizes and locations found during scans (junk files, thumbnails, APKs, logs, empty folders, large files).
- Storage and memory (RAM) usage.
- Your App Lock settings, the list of locked apps and your PIN (stored as a salted hash). Fingerprint unlock uses Android's biometric system; CleanONE never receives your fingerprint.
- App preferences such as theme, reminders and scan history.
Permissions we ask for
Every permission is used only for the feature described, and most are optional.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| All files access / Storage | Finding and removing junk files and showing large files. Files are only deleted when you tap Clean or choose to delete them. |
| Photos, videos & audio (media) | Showing large media files so you can review them. |
| Usage access | Measuring how much cache each app holds. |
| Notifications | Optional cleanup reminders. |
| Accessibility service | Auto clean and App Lock — see below. |
| Internet | Signing in, saving your account profile and login history, and looking up your public IP address. |
| Advertising ID (AD_ID) | Reading your device's advertising ID so it can be linked to your account at login. |
Accessibility service (prominent disclosure)
CleanONE includes an optional Accessibility service, "CleanONE Auto clean & App Lock". It is turned on only if you enable it in Android Settings, and you can turn it off at any time. It is used for exactly two features:
- Auto clean — when you start a clean, it opens each app's storage page in Android Settings and taps "Clear cache". It never taps "Clear data", "Clear storage", "Uninstall" or "Force stop".
- App Lock — it notices which app has come to the front so it can show your PIN screen over apps you have locked.
Only the name of the app on screen and the Settings buttons needed for cleaning are read. CleanONE does not collect, store or share anything you read or type, and none of this information leaves your device.
How we use information
- To create and manage your account, let you log in (with email and password, or with your Google account), verify your email address and help you reset your password.
- To provide the App's features and personalise your experience.
- To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.
- To respond to your support requests.
We use your advertising ID, Android ID, IP address and device details only to manage and secure your account — for example, to recognise your devices and spot suspicious logins. We do not sell this information, show ads in the App or use it for automated decision-making.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- With Google Firebase, which stores account data and sends verification and password-reset emails on our behalf as our service provider.
- With ipify, which sees your IP address when the App looks up your public IP at login.
- If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or the public.
- When you choose to share a report from the App (for example, "Share report"), through the app you pick.
Retention & deletion
We keep your account data while your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account at any time — follow the steps on our Delete account page; we will delete your account and profile within 30 days, except where we must keep information to meet legal obligations. Data stored only on your device is removed when you clear the App's data or uninstall it.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and protected by Firebase's security controls and access rules that allow each user to access only their own profile. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal data, to withdraw consent and to complain to a data protection authority. You can update your name in the App's Profile screen. For anything else, contact us.
Children
CleanONE is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the App.
